If you want to go mountainbiking in the Apuseni Mountains, we have some routes for you which you can follow. Of course there’s also a lot of other options. Feel free to ask once you get here.
Scarita Belioara Circuit 59km – 1413m↑
This route will take you up to Scarita Belioara but the long way around. In front of the gate you take a left and go down on the asphalt, all the way until you reach the Aries River. There you take a right on the DN75 and follow the road for about 7km until you reach Posaga. Here you take a right and you start your long way up. once you leave the village of Posaga behind you you will ride trough a gorge. In the gorge is a monastery on your left side, which might be interesting for a short stop.
After that you soon reach Posaga de Sus which is at the base of Scarita Belioara, but from here it’s to steep to go up. So we keep following the main road and take the next right towards Sagagea. Take another right until you reach the village of Sagagea. When you reach the bar of the village you take a left and keep going up.
This long bendy forest road takes you up to grasslands on the back of Scarita. Once you get to the Blue-Cross-marking you take a right and follow the markings all the way until you reach the peak of Scarita Belioara. The last bit is very steep, but the reward is big.
After you enjoyed the views it’s time for the downhill part of the day. Go down on the same way you climbed up until you reach the first barn. Here you take a right and then you just keep going down until you get back to Tara Nomada.

Scarita Belioara Round Trip 30km – 903m↑
This route will take you up to Scarita Belioara in the easiest way. When you stand in front of our gate you take a right and follow the asphalt up trough the Runcului Gorge, trough Lunca Larga until the road changes into a forest road.
Here you soon reach a fork in the road where you keep left. The track will keep going up until you leave the grasslands. At some point you find a blue-cross-marking and follow that to the left. The track will keep going up all the way until you reach Scarita Belioara. The last bit before the top is very steep, but very much worth it.
When you go down you keep on the blue-cross-marking until you get to the first barn. There you take a right and keep going down until you reach Tara Nomada again.

Muntele Mare 56km – 1948m↑
This is the most challenging trip that we have to offer. It’s only for well trained bikers.
Starting from our gate you take a right and start uphill on the asphalt road. First you pass the gorge and then Lunca Larga. When the road turns into a dirt road you take a right and climb up through the forest until you reach the grasslands. Where a few tracks come together you keep going straight and start a steep decent down to a small stream.
After crossing the stream you go left and make your way up on a forest road until you reach Muntele Baisoara. Here you find your way to the asphalt and take a left in the direction of Buscat Ski Resort.
Once you pass the Ski Resort you keep going on the same road which will be unpaved for the rest of the trip. You keep following this road all the way until you get to the military radar station on top. Don’t go in to the base, but have a nice look at the beautiful views before turning around.
Just before reaching the Ski Resort you should take a right on the Yellow-Dot-marking and go down Pietrele Marunte. This is a very technical track that brings you down to Stefans Trailer. You pass the trailer on the left side and keep going until you get to the point where you’ve been earlier out in your trip where a few tracks come together. From here there’s two option. The most sensible one is to go back the same way you came up when you started the trip.
But of course you should choose the more exciting route and take a left and go up to the cross on the left side hill. Keep following this track all the way until you get to Runc.

Salciua Round Trip 26,8km – 720m↑
To start this trip you have to go to Salciua first. Which is another 18 km. If you go with the car you can park there at the market field. From the market you take a left on DN75. You follow the main road for about 500 meters before taking a left and crossing the River.
From there you keep following the road that will lead to Valea Larga. There you keep going up until you get to Mount Ponorel and you keep going to Mount Heacu Berstanului.
From here most of the climbing is done and you go down towards Dumesti, from where it’s only downhill until you reach the villege of Salciua and you can make your way back to the starting point.
